Influence of empowerment education on care behaviors of caregivers of children with retinopathy after surgery

Abstract:Objective:To probe into the influence of empowerment education on the emotional status and care behavior of caregivers of children with retinopathy after surgery.Methods:A total of 190 cases of caregivers of retinopathy patients were divided into control group(n=94) and intervention group(n=96),the cases in control group used the conventional health education,the cases in intervention group received the health education guided by the empowerment theory on the basis of routine health education.The two groups of caregivers were assessed with general information questionnaire,caregiver positive aspects of caregiving(PAC) and caregiver behavior questionnaire at admission and 1 month after discharge respectively.Results:1 month after discharge,PAC score of caregivers in intervention group was(28.70±1.68) ,care behavior score was(40.50±0.51),PAC score of control group was(20.37±1.13),care behavior score was(37.17±0.65),there was statistically significant difference between two groups(P<0.001).Conclusion:Empowerment education effectively improved the level of care behaviors and psychological positive feelings of caregivers of children with retinopathy after surgery,and it was beneficial to postoperative rehabilitation of children.
