Influence of staged intervention based on TTM model on self-management behaviors and calcium and phosphorus levels in maintenance hemodialysis patients
Abstract:Objective: To explore the effect of staged intervention based on transtheoretical model (TTM) on self-management behaviors and calcium and phosphorus levels in maintenance hemodialysis patients. Methods:A total of 88 cases of hemodialysis patients admitted from August 2014 to June 2016 were randomly divided into study group and control group,44 cases in each. The patients in control group received traditional nursing care, while the patients in study group received staged intervention based on the TTM model on the basis of the traditional nursing care. Two groups of patients were assessed by self behavior management scale before intervention and at the end of third month after intervention,as well as measuring blood calcium levels and serum phosphorus levels. Results:After intervention, for study group patient the scores of partnership(16.3±2.7),emotional processing(17.0±2.6),problem solving(16.0±2.4),implementation of self care activities(15.7±2.5) were higher those that of the control group partnership(10.4±1.7),emotional processing(9.2±1.4),problem solving(9.0±4.7),implementation of self care activities(10.2±1.6),there was significant difference between two groups(P<0.05);after intervention, serum phosphorus value of patients in study group(1.7 mmol/L±0.3 mmol/L) was lower than that in control group(2.2 mmol/L±0.5 mmol/L),there was significant difference between two groups(P<0.05).Conclusions:the staged intervention based on TTM is helpful to improve the self-management behavior and reduce the levels of phosphorus in maintenance hemodialysis patients.
