Abstract:Objective: To explore the effects of active decompression training on social avoidance, distress, discrimination and disability acceptance in severely facial burned patients. Methods: Facial burn patients in the Department of burning and plastic surgery of the hospital from Jun 2013 to Jun 2015 were chosen as the research objects, and they were divided into intervention group (80 cases) and control group (76 cases) according to double-blind lottery method. The patients in intervention group were given positive decompression training, while the patients in control group were given general visit only. The scores of the Acceptance of Disability Scale(AODS),Social Avoidance and Distress Scale (SADS),discrimination sense, the MOS item short from health survey,SF-36(SF-36),Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS) and Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS) were compared before and after the intervention. Results: After the intervention, the AODS scores in intervention group were significantly increased (t=3.378,P<0.05),higher than that in control group(t=4.462,P<0.05).The social avoidance, distress, discrimination,SAS,SDS scores in intervention group were significantly decreased after intervention(P<0.05),and the scores were significantly lower than those in control group (P<0.05).The SF-36 score of the intervention group was significantly increased than before the intervention (P<0.05) and was significantly higher than that in control group, the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05).In the control group, the three scores were not significantly improved (P>0.05).Conclusions: Active decompression training was helpful to improve the level of acceptance of disability in patients with facial burn, remove the negative mood and reduce the social avoidance, distress, and discrimination perception,so as to improve their ability of social adaptation.
