Status quo and correlation of traditional Chinese medicine health management demands and family functions of patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

Abstract:Objective:To study the TCM health management demands and family functional status of patients with mellitus diabetes,and to explore the relationship between them.Methods: A total of 265 patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus were investigated with APGAR and the self-made questionnaire of TCM health management demand for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.Results:The total score of APGAR in patients with type 2 diabetes was(6.58±4.67),including good family function group with 160 cases,moderate disability group with 65 cases and severe obstacle group with 40 cases.The total score of Chinese medicine health management demands was(51.77±12.85),among which the score of disease knowledge was(10.20±2.94),and the score of health promotion was(16.89±4.21),and the score of health intervention was(24.70±7.35).There were statistically significant differences in the total score of health management demands and the scores of all dimensions among family function group,moderate obstacle group and severe obstacle group(P<0.05).The family function was positively related to the total score of TCM health management demands of type 2 diabetes mellitus(P<0.05).Family functioning,educational level,diabetes history and age were the factors influencing the Chinese medicine health management demands of type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.Conclusions:Patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus had higher demands for traditional Chinese medicine health management.And family functions needed to be further improved,a good family function could promote the patient''s health management demands.
