Study on elderly inpatients' participation in fall prevention of knowledge,attitude and practice scale
Abstract:Objective:This study designed a KAP questionnaire for elderly inpatients in fall prevention.To probe into the status of participation in fall prevention of knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP) in elderly patients,and to understand the willingness or behavior of patients to participate actively in safety management.Methods:Based on the framework chart of patient participation ind patients'' safety and the knowledge-attitude-behavior model,the scale was designed inoluding 43 initial entry pools.After 2 rounds consultation of expert and pre-investigation of 35 elderly inpatients,the 42 entries of initial questionnaire was formed.On this basis,a total of 341 elderly inpatients in Beijing Geriatric Hospital were investigated by convenience sampling method,the reliability and validity of the scale were tested,and the final scale items were determined according to the validity test results.Results:There were 33 entries in the designed scale for the elderly inpatients in the fall prevention questionnaire in this study.They were divided into 3 dimensions,including 11 items of knowledge,9 items of attitudes,13 items of behavior items.The Cronbach''s alpha coefficient of total scale was 0.952.The Cronbach''s alpha coefficient of the knowledge,attitude and behavior were respective 0.928,0.918,0.927.Knowledge split half reliability,attitude split half reliability and behavior split half reliability of questionnaire were respectively 0.889,0.894 and 0.897.The content validity of expert evaluation was 0.945.Conclusion:This scale had good reliability and validity,and can be used as a tool for elderly inpatients to participate in fall prevention KAP.
