Study on correlation between health literacy and sleep disorders in the elderly with chronic diseases in rural areas
Abstract:Objective:To probe into the status quo of health literacy and sleep disorders in patients with chronic diseases in rural areas.Methods:A total of 444 elderly patients with chronic diseases in rural areas in Hunan province were investigated with the general data questionnaire,chronic health literacy scale and the ascension Insomnia scale.Results:The scores of health literacy and sleep disorders were(73.49±12.13) and (7.39±3.78) respectively.The score of health literacy of rural chronic disease patients was negatively correlated with the score of sleep disorders(r=-0.172~-0.334,P<0.01).They believed that health status,drinking,health literacy have an impact on sleep disorders(R2=0.240,F=11.324,P<0.001).Conclusion:The health literacy of rural patients with chronic diseases was closely related to sleep disorders.The higher the level of health literacy was,the smaller the possibility of sleep disorders was.Therefore,it should be carried out in rural areas,such as chronic disease care,health sleep knowledge education,so as to improve the health literacy and sleep quality of rural chronic disease patients,reduce or slow down the occurrence of chronic diseases and complications.
