A visual analysis of the nursing education hotspots of United States in recent 15 years

Abstract:Objective:To understand the research hotspots,status quo,and development trend in nursing education in United States in recent 15 years.Methods:The keywords of the nursing education literature published in the "Web of ScienceTMCore Collection" (WOS) database from 2001 to 2015 were searched for objects and analyzed through three time periods.The CiteSpace,an information visualization analysis software,was used to show the keywords common knowledge map of nursing education in United States in recent 15 years.Results:Through high controlled keywords,the nursing education research hotspots in United States were analyzed.From 2001 to 2005,the hotspots included the curriculum and teaching contents (community education,mind decompression,nursing informatics,and genetics),teaching mode (mixed teaching,human patient simulator,and net education),symptoms management,and evidence-based nursing practice.From 2006 to 2010,the hotspots included the curriculum and teaching contents (environmental health curriculum,nursing curriculum integration quality and safety content,communication skills education),teaching model (study-centered,high fidelity simulation,and teamwork),nurses' job burnout,clinical nursing education (geriatric hospital as practice education area and trained with teacher).From 2011 to 2015,the hotspots included Doctor degree education,teaching contents (cross culture ability),teaching model (flip classroom and remote online education),clinical nursing expert,nurse shortage,and nurse continuing education.Conclusions:In recent 15 years,the nursing education in United States had developed,from focusing on nursing teaching and basic skills,to career development,then to continuing education and high-level talents training.With the deepening of the globalization in nursing education,the nursing education core content in United States was gradually transformed into the fields of professional value,group health,information system,critical thinking and so on.
