Survey of chronic disease status of the elderly in community and related risk factors
Abstract：Objective:To survey the chronic disease status and related risk factors among the elderly in communi-ty in Rizhao city,and probe into the relevant interventions,so as to provide the basis for the prevention and treatment of chronic diseases in the elderly.Methods:A stratified random sampling method and self-made questionnaire were used to investigate the elderly people who were 60 years old and above and often lived in community with face to face style.Results:There were 880 valid samples,270 cases with chronic disease,the prevalence rate was 30.7%.The chronic diseases ranking in top 4 were hypertension,diabetes mellitus,coronary heart disease and arthritis;and the prevalence rate of hypertension was the highest(17.05%).The risk factors of chronic diseases in the elderly included age,smoking,lack of exercise,and family history of chronic diseases(P<0.05).Conclusions:Community should carry out smoking cessation and limiting alcohol,strengthen physical ex-ercise,reasonable diet and other health education activities,so as to guide the elderly to develop the correct lifes-tyle and good eating habits,and then prevent the occurrence of chronic disease.
