Survey and analysis of self management status quo in elderly patients with chronic heart failure in Shanghai city
Abstract:Objective:To investigate and analyze the self management status quo and related factors of elderly patients with chronic heart failure(CHF)in Shanghai.Methods:A total of 881 elderly CHF patients from 30 hospitals(first,second,and third level)in 6 districts of Shanghai city were selected by stratified cluster sampling method.The general information and self management level of the patients were investigated by question-naires.Results:The total score of self management was(50.2±9.8),and the scoring rate was 62.8%.The sco-ring rate of four dimensions were diet management,medication management,psychological/social adaptation management and symptom management from high to low.There were statistically significant differences(P<0.05 or P<0.01)in total score of self management among different age,gender,education level,job conditions,per capita income,self care ability or cardiac function grading patients.Conclusions:The self management of eld-erly CHF patients in Shanghai is at the middle lower level.One should carry out more effective intervention and self management education based on the weak links,so as to provide theoretical basis for improving pa-tients’self management ability.
