Survey of prevalence of thyroid diseases of radiation workers and its influencing factors

Abstract:Objective:To know about the prevalence and analyze the risk factors of thyroid diseases of radiation workers in medical institutions.Methods:The prevalence of thyroid diseases in 1 066 radiation workers were sur-veyed by thyroid examination and questionnaire survey in medical institutions,and to explore the risk factors by multiple regression model.Results:The detection rate of thyroid disease in radiation workers in medical institu-tions was 35.5%.The male’s prevalence rate was 27.6%,and the female’s was 50.5%,which was significantly higher than male’s(P<0.01).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that age,gender,occupation,per-sonal dose equivalent radiation,family history of thyroid disease,diet habits,and scale of medical institutions were the risk factors of influencing prevalence of thyroid diseases.Conclusions:The prevalence of thyroid disease in radiation workers were in poor condition.Gender,age,occupation,personal dose equivalent radiation cumula-tive value,family history of thyroid disease,diet habits,and scale of medical institutions were the risk factors of thyroid disease,in this professional groups.
