Effect observation on different oxygen flooding humidification speeds in stroke patients with oropharyngeal airway
Abstract:Objective:To study the clinical efficacy of an appropriate speed of the oxygen driven pumping of a humidifying solution for stroke patients with oropharyngeal airway. Methods:A total of 77 stroke patients ad-mitting to the Department of Neurology in our hospital and using oropharyngeal airway were selected and re-ceived oxygen driven pumping of 0.45% sodium chloride from September 2014 to February 201 6.These pa-tients were included in this study and randomly divided into group A,B,and C to receive continuous pumping at 1 to 2 mL/h,3 to 8 mL/h,and >8 mL/h,respectively.Oral mucosa and airway humidification effect were com-pared after three days among the three groups. Results:No significant differences were observed in heart rate a-mong the three groups(P >0.05);however,there were statistically significant differences regarding respiration, blood oxygen saturation, oral mucosa, satisfactory humidification effect, sputum, frequency of oral sputum suc-tion,and mucosal injury during sputum suction in group B compared with group A and C(P <0.05 ).Conclu-sions:For stroke patients with oropharyngeal airway,a continuous pumping of 3 to 8 mL/h (0.45% sodium chloride)was more appropriate and could improve patients’comfort and reduce complications.
