Abstract:Objective:To investigate the effect of perioperative short term high dose atorvastatin to prevent contrast induced nephropathy (CIN)after coronary angiography. Methods:The keywords were used such as“atorvastatin/statins/statin”,“contrast induced nephropathy,CIN,nephrotoxicity, kidney failure”,and “con-trast,contrast medium”to search NGC,the Cochrane Library, the Joanna Briggs Institute Library(JBI),Em-base,MEDLINE,CBM,VIP,CNKI,and the Wanfang database to retrieve randomized controlled trials(RCTs). Two reviewers evaluated the quality of all RCTs and extracted their data;RevMan 5.0 was used for the meta analysis. Results:A total of 2 509 patients across 12 RCTs were included in this study. The patients in atorvasta-tin group were administered 40 mg or 80 mg of atorvastatin once before surgery. The Meta analysis showed that after surgery, the incidence of CIN(P <0.000 01)and the case number of patients who required hemodialy-sis(P =0.03),serum creatinine(P <0.000 01),and serum cystatin C(P <0.000 01)were significantly lower in atorvastatin group than these in control group. Conclusion:Short term high dose atorvastatin could reduce the incidence of CIN and the risk of hemodialysis after coronary angiography.
