Survey of perception of community diabetes patients on diabetic foot,risks of diabetic foot and foot self care be-haviors

Abstract：Objective:To know about the perception of diabetes patients in a community in Chengdu city on dia-betic foot,risks of diabetic foot in them and their foot self care behaviors.Methods:A total of 207 diabetic pa-tients were selected in a community health service center in Chengdu city by using cross sectional survey and convenience sampling.Diabetic foot risk classification evaluation system issued by Huntleigh diabetic foot diag-nosis cases(UK)and IWGDF was used for screening the diabetic foot risk of community diabetes patients,at the same time the community diabetes patients received the questionnaire survey with diabetic foot neuropathy perception scale and homemade foot self care behavior assessment scale.Results:In diabetic foot perception e-valuation,the“mood to medicine”dimension scored the lowest.The“worries about diabetic foot”dimension score was the highest.The total score of foot self care behavior was 1.59±0.30,foot self care behavior score was 1.43±0.32,foot injury behavior score was 2.00±0.50.The risk level of community diabetes patients suffering from diabetes foot:level 0 with 152 cases(73.4%),level 1 with 15 cases(7.3%),level 2 with 39 cases(18.8%),level 3 with 1 case(0.5%).Conclusion:The community diabetes patients had the poorer perception on diabetic foot,and the risk of suffering from diabetic foot in some patients was higher.It prompts that community should strength-en the diabetes patients’primary prevention and secondary prevention on diabetic foot and to strengthen self management.
