Evidence based nursing research on methods of determining successful indwelling of nasogastric tube for adults
Abstract：Objective:To collect and summarize the judging methods of successful indwelling of nasogastric tube for adults,so as to promote the science,unify and standardization of clinical nursing practice.Methods:We searched OVID JBI,Cochrane library,BEST PRACTICE,RNAO,EBSCO CINAHL,PubMed and CBM.The retrieved content included the clinical practice guidelines,the evidence summarized,recommended practice,sys-tematic reviews and cluster measures of nasogastric tube judging methods for adult that published from the es-tablish to Jan 21,2014.At last three reviewers independently screened the literatures,evaluated the quality and extracted the data from the literatures,and had a cross check to confirm accuracy.Results:We identified 9 liter-atures,which included 3evidence summary,two guidance,2 systematic reviews,1 meta analysis and 1 expert o-pinion.We summarized six judging methods and gave each the level of evidence.Conclusion:The most appropri-ate judging method of successful indwelling of nasogastric tube for adults is determining the pH value of the ex-traction by using pH test paper and regarding the X ray as the gold judgement standard.That method can re-duce the incidence of miscarriage of justice,improve the success rate of catheterization and reduce the patients’ pain with repeated catheterization.
