Abstract:Objective:To prepare the exercise assessment scale suitable for elderly patients with diabetes in Chi-na,and to analyze its reliability and validity. Methods:The literature review, expert consultation and patient depth interview were used for preparing the first edition of elderly diabetes exercise assessment scale. The con-venience sampling method was used to select the senile diabetes patients in endocrinology wards and outpatient in two third grade class A hospital from Shanghai city. And they were investigated with questionnaire survey. Through a variety of statistical tests, screening, classification, combination and adjusting entries, the final ver-sion of the scale was formed. The scale was used to investigate 320 elderly diabetic patients, and to evaluate the reliability and validity of the scale. Results:The exercise assessment scale for elderly patients with diabetes in-cluded exercise knowledge, exercise intention, exercise behavior, professional support and social support 5 di-mensions and 35 items. The exploratory factor analysis of scale extracted 5 common factors, and the cumulative variance contribution rate was 78.21%.The load value of the corresponding common factors extracted from en-tries were greater than 0.746.Two order seven factor model was got through the confirmatory factor analy-sis.χ2/df was 1.310.The goodness of fit index (GFI)>0.90.Adjusted goodness of fit index (AGFI)>0.90. The general content validity index of the scale(S CVI)was 0.915.The entry level of content validity index (I CVI) was 1.00.Total Cronbach’s alpha coefficient of the scale was 0.85 1.Test retest reliability was 0.867. Spearman Brown split half reliability coefficient in project length was 0.857.Guttman split half reliability coef-ficient was 0.852.Conclusion:The prepared elderly diabetes patients exercise assessment scale in this research has good reliability and validity. And it can be used as the elderly diabetes patients exercise assessment tool ap-plied in evaluation on health education and intervention effect.
