Study on gender difference of career expectation and career decision making self efficacy of nursing undergradu-ates and correlation between them

Abstract：Objective:To know about the gender difference of career expectation and career decision making self ef-ficacy (CDMSE)of nursing undergraduates,and probe into the correlation between them in two different gen-ders.Methods:Grade two nursing undergraduates received questionnaire survey by using the basic demographic characteristics questionnaire,the career expectation scale and CDMSE scale,and to analyze the difference of ca-reer expectation and CDMSE of different genders of nursing undergraduates and correlation between them.Re-sults:There was no statistically significant difference in total score of career expectation between male nursing students and female nursing students;in career expectation entries,the male nursing students paid more atten-tion to establishing their reputation as an authority than the female nursing students;while in CDMSE,the male nursing students paid more attention to collecting the occupation related recruitment information than female nursing students,but the female nursing students showed higher confidence in performance;the CDMSE had positive correlation with the career expectation in the general,and that correlation in male nursing students was higher than that in female nursing students.Conclusion:The male and female nursing students respectively have their own emphasis on the career expectation and CDMSE.It suggests that the nursing educators should educate the students individually and establish the targeted career planning education.At the same time,the career ex-pectation has a significant positive correlation with CDMSE,therefore it can improve the CDMSE of nursing students by enhancing their career expectation.
