A qualitative study on real experience of ICU patients on physical restraint

Abstract:Objective:To know about the true feelings of physically restrained patients in ICU,so that medical personnel could provide better and more humane care for them.Methods:A total of 1 3 patients with physical re-straints in ICU were interviewed by using phenomenological research method combined with participant obser-vation.Results:Three themes were summarized by using thematic analysis as physical restraints related emo-tional experiences,physical activity disorder and the attitude toward physical restraints.Conclusion:Medical per-sonnel should understand the feelings and demands of physically restrained patients,so that it can reduce the sufferings of patients as much as possible,promote the patients’physical and mental comfort and protect pa-tients’rights and interests.
