Study on correlation between health promoting and social support of caregivers of elderly disabled stroke patients

Abstract：Objective:To analyze the health promoting lifestyle of family caregivers of stroke disabled elders and social support status quo of disabled elderly,and to probe into the correlation between them.Methods:A total of 207 cases of stroke disabled elders and family caregivers in Tianjin city were investigated by using the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile Ⅱ,Social Support Rating Scale and Mini nutritional Assessment Short Form.Re-sults:The total score of health promoting lifestyle score of family caregivers was(118.84±30.87),which was lower than that of the general population in city(P<0.01).The dimension scores from high to low were nutri-tion,interpersonal relationship,self realization,pressure coping,health responsibility and exercise.Patients’ social support score was(34.26±5.13),which was lower than the norm(P<0.01).The health promoting lifes-tyle of caregiver was positively correlated with patients’social support score(r=0.357,P<0.01).Conclusion:To strengthen the social support of stroke disability elderly care unit,not only can help to reduce the load of care,improve health behaviors and quality of life of family caregivers,but also can improve long term care level and stroke patients rehabilitation.
