Influence of group work on self management of community elderly patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

Abstract：Obj ective:To probe into the influence of group work on self management of community elderly patients with chronic obstructive pul-monary disease.Methods:The community group work method was ap-plied for intervention of community elderly patients with COPD.The ob-j ects were randomly divided into control group (n=44)and experimental group (n=40),the patients in control group used conventional communi-ty health education method,besides that the patients in experimental group used group work intervention.Self management scale was used for investigation of COPD patients and comparative analysis at discharged from the hospital and discharged after 3 months.Results:The self man-agement level of patients in experimental group was improved significant-ly compared with the control group,and there was significant difference between both groups (P<0.05).Discussion:Group work can significant-ly improve the self management level of community elderly patients with COPD,and it is a feasible way of community health education.
