A comparative study and analysis of core competence of nursing students

Abstract：Objective:To understand the core competence of nursing students,and to provide references and evidences for the teaching reform and evaluation for nursing students,and to provide reference for hospital re-cruitment and assessment of new members and set up of pre post training contents.Methods:A total of 508 nursing students before practice and graduation were investigated by using the core competencies scale of nur-ses.Results:The core competence of nursing students was at a medium lev-el.Specialist nursing students and undergraduate nursing students had the equivalent core competence.The score of nursing students’critical think-ing/research and ethical/legal practice was the lowest,the core competence of nursing students before graduation was higher than that of nursing students before clinical practice,the core competence of nursing students was significantly lower than that of nurses registered in the three grade hos-pitals.Conclusion:Undergraduate teaching reform is imperative,and the outcome of the reform should highlight the advantages of undergraduate nursing education.The school should pay full attention to the training of core competence of nursing students,and constantly promote the teaching reform,take the core competence of nursing students as evaluation stand-ards of school and nursing students.
