Abstract:Objectives:Toanalyzethestatusquooflifeanddeathattitude of nursing undergraduates in colleges in Macao. Methods:A total of 224 nursing undergraduates were investigated by using Scale of Life Attitude scale and in deep interview combined with quantitative and qualitative research methods on their life and death attitude. Results:The quantita-tive research results showed that nursing students’life and death atti-tude was more positive than the norm from Taiwan(P<0.001).The qualitative research data showed that students did not have clear life ide-al;and they could decide their lives by themselves, and they would be re-sponsible for their own choices. They had the sense of presence mainly coming from the interpersonal relationship with other people, especially with families;they had a willingness of strong and natural love and care, and thought that caring death was an important duty of nurses. But as a nurse, the loving and caring ability was still inadequate;and they had dif-ficulties in their lives;and their emotions to death included curiosity, fear, sadness, regret and acceptance. Conclusion:The life and death at-titude of the obj ects is more positive compared with the norm from Tai-wan,but it needs further to be improved.Combined qualitative and quan-titative method can give a whole picture for students’life-and-death attitude.
