Abstract:The patient was a young male diagnosed with severe obesity, esophageal hiatal hernia, hypertension, hyperlipidemia, hyperuricemia, hyperinsulinemia, obstructive sleep apnea syndrome and reflux esophagitis. He underwent laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy combined with proximal jejunal bypass(SG+PJB)and hiatal hernia repair(HHR).SG+PJB can reduce the volume of gastric storage by means of a sleeve gastrectomy, with the exclusion of 300 cm of jejunum. This procedure is designed to achieve results comparable to or better than those of gastric bypass but with fewer complications, technical difficulties and potential nutritional deficiencies.Reflux esophagitis is a common complication following sleeve gastrectomy, while intraoperative repair of the loose esophageal hiatus is an effective measure to prevent this condition.
