Influence of intervention based on continuous nursing model on the quality of life and mental health of advanced colorectal cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy

Abstract:Objective To analyze the effect of continuous nursing on the quality of life and psychological status of patients undergoing chemotherapy for advanced colorectal cancer.Methods From January 2023 to October 2024,a total of 80 patients undergoing chemotherapy for advanced colorectal cancer at Xuyi County People's Hospital were randomly assigned into the control group and the experimental group,with 40 cases in each group.The control group received routine nursing,while the experimental group received continuous nursing,including health records,regular follow-up,dietary guidance,health education,psychological counseling,and work and rest guidance.Spitzer Quality of Life Index(SQLI),anxiety and depression self-assessment scale(SAS,SDS),Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)for pain,and patient satisfaction 4 weeks before and after intervention were recorded in the two groups.Results After the intervention,compared with the control group,the SQLI score of the experimental group increased,and the anxiety and depression were significantly alleviated.The experimental group also showed a reduction in VAS pain scores after the intervention,in addition to higher patient satisfaction with continuous nursing.Conclusion Continuous nursing can significantly improve mental health,pain,and overall quality of life for patients with advanced colorectal cancer.These results suggest that a comprehensive and continuous nursing intervention strategy can be an effective way to improve the quality of life for patients with advanced colorectal cancer during chemotherapy.
