Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effects of arthroscopically assisted fixation at the upper edge of the pectoralis major muscle for the treatment of diseases of the long head of the biceps brachii muscle. Methods 41 patients were selected in Changzhou Fourth People's Hospital from January 2021 to July 2023 who were treated by arthroscopically assisted fixation at the upper edge of the pectoralis major muscle for the treatment of diseases of the long head of the biceps brachii muscle. Then the VAS score,ASES score and Constant score of function of shoulder were compared. Results All patients were followed up for 8~22 months(average 12.5±3.8 months). The VAS scores at preoperation,1 month postoperation and the last follow-up were respectively(6.66±1.02),(3.51±1.00)and(1.10±0.70),and the difference between preoperative and postoperative was statistically significant(P<0.05).The ASES scores at preoperation,1 month postoperation and the last follow-up were respectively(50.22±7.70),(68.88±4.15)and(86.95±3.40),and the difference between preoperation and postoperation was statistically significant(P<0.05).The Constant score at preoperation,1 month postoperation and the last follow-up were respectively(53.54±6.64),(66.24±6.49)and(89.78±3.28),and the difference between preoperation and postoperation was also statistically significant(P<0.05).There was no Popeye sign in 41 cases, and no weakening of elbow flexion force was found at the last follow-up.Conclusion The method of arthroscopically assisted fixation at the upper edge of the pectoralis major muscle for the treatment of diseases of the long head of the biceps brachii muscle is effective because of its safety and simplicity.
