Abstract:Objective To explore the correlation between Nutritional Risk Index(NRI)and the post-operative prognosis of patients with advanced gastric cancer. Methods The clinical data of 213 patients with advanced gastric cancer who received gastrectomy from January 2009 to December 2022 in Qinghai Red Cross Hospital were analyzed retrospectively. The NRI was calculated with the results measured 1 week before surgery.NRI was calculated as(1.519×serum albumin,g/L)+(41.7×current/usual body weight,kg). The correlation between NRI and the post-operative prognosis of patients with advanced gastric cancer was analyzed with survival curves described by Kaplan-Meier method and the prognostic factors were identified with the Cox proportional hazard model. Results Moderate to severe malnourished patients had lower 5-yr OS(45.3%)compared with normal to mild group(64.0%)(P=0.024).Preoperative NRI may be one of the independent prognostic factors of PFS for patients with gastric cancer(P=0.041).Preoperative NRI and the level of serum albumin may be independent prognostic factors of OS for patients with gastric cancer(P<0.001,P=0.01,respectively).Conclusion Preoperative NRI may predict the post-operative prognosis of patients with advanced gastric cancer and is a significant predictor in evaluating the nutritional status of patients with gastric cancer.
