Preliminary investigation of transvaginal extraperitoneal high uterosacral ligament suspension for the management of pelvic organ prolapse

Abstract:Objective To investigate the clinical effect and safety of transvaginal extraperitoneal high uterosacral ligament suspension in the treatment of pelvic organ prolapse.Methods The clinical data of 20 patients who underwent transvaginal extraperitoneal high uterosacral ligament suspension in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology,Huai'an Maternity and Child Healthcare Hospital Affiliated to Yangzhou Medical University from May 2022 to May 2023 were retrospectively analyzed and summarized.Results The operation was successfully completed in 20 patients with uterine preservation by transvaginal extraperitoneal high uterosacral ligament suspension.One patient had vaginal wall hematoma,one patient had postoperative urinary retention,and one patient had bilateral inguinal pain.No ureteral injury occurred in all patients.The POP-Q score,PFIQ-7,PFDI-20 and PISQ-12 scores at 6 months after operation were significantly improved compared with those before operation(P<0.05),and there was no recurrence at 6 months after operation.Conclusion Transvaginal extraperitoneal high uterosacral ligament suspension may be a safe and effective surgical method for the treatment of female pelvic organ prolapse,which is worthy of further promotion.
