Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary black soldier fly larvae meal on the laying performance, serum antioxidant, and immune function in Lushi hens.A total of 1 200 thirty-eight-week-old Lushi hens with similar body weight, good laying performance, and good health, were selected. They were randomly divided into four groups with three replicates per group, and 100 hens per replicate. The control group(BSFLM0 group)was fed with the basal diet. The groups BSFLM5,BSFLM10 and BSFLM15 were supplemented with 5%,10%and 15%black soldier fly larvae meal in the basal diet, respectively. The pre-test period was 14 days, and the formal test period was 56 days. The results showed that group BSFLM10 had the highest laying rate, which was significantly higher than that of groups BSFLM0 and BSFLM5(P<0.05).The feed-to-egg ratio was the lowest in the group BSFLM10,significantly lower than that in the groups BSFLM0 and BSFLM5(P<0.05).Group BSFLM15 exhibited the lowest eggshell color △L* value, significantly lower than groups BSFLM0 and BSFLM5(P<0.05),and the yolk color was significantly higher than the group BSFLM0(P<0.05).The group BSFLM15 showed the highest total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity,significantly higher than the groups BSFLM0 and BSFLM5(P<0.05).The activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and catalase(CAT)were highest in the group BSFLM15,significantly higher than the other groups(P<0.05).The serum immunoglobulin A(IgA)and immunoglobulin M(IgM)concentrations were highest in the group BSFLM15,significantly higher than in the group BSFLM0(P<0.05).Serum immunoglobulin G(IgG)content was highest in the group BSFLM10,significantly higher than in groups BSFLM0 and BSFLM5(P<0.05).Group BSFLM15 had the lowest serum tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)content,significantly lower than groups BSFLM0 and BSFLM5(P<0.05).Group BSFLM10 had the lowest serum interleukin-6(IL-6)content,significantly lower than group BSFLM0(P<0.05).And group BSFLM10 had the highest serum interleukin-10(IL-10)content,significantly higher than groups BSFLM0 and BSFLM5(P<0.05).The study indicates that dietary black soldier fly larvae meal can improve the laying rate, reduce the feed-to-egg ratio, enhance eggshell and yolk color, and strengthen serum antioxidant capacity and immune function in Lushi hens, with a recommended inclusion level of 10%.
