Effect of breeding scale on cost efficiency of broiler farming in China
TIAN Naixin
Abstract:Based on panel data from five major broiler-producing provinces in China from 2014 to 2023,this arctile comprehensively employs multiple measurement methods to empirically analyze the impact of breeding scale on the cost efficiency of broiler farming and its mechanism. The results showed that breeding scale had a significant positive effect on the cost efficiency of broiler farming, and this conclusion remained valid after a series of robustness tests. The mediation effect test indicated that technological upgrading played a partial mediating role in the process of breeding scale improving cost efficiency.Furthermore, the moderation effect analysis revealed that environmental regulation exerted a significant positive moderating function in this process. The study indicates that moderately promoting the expansion of breeding scale, coupled with coordinated efforts to advance technological upgrading and strengthen environmental regulation guidance, serves as an effective pathway to enhance the cost efficiency and industrial competitiveness of broiler farming.
