Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with Ligusticum chuanxiong Hort.aqueous extract(AQE)on the growth, body composition, and antioxidant capacity of Carassius auratus.A total of 630 Carassius auratus with an initial body weight of(13.05±0.10)g were randomly divided into seven groups, with three replicates per group and 30 fish per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.3%(group 0.3%),0.6%(group 0.6%),0.9%(group 0.9%),1.2%(group 1.2%),1.5%(group 1.5%),and 1.8%(group 1.8%)AQE,respectively.The test period was 15 days. The results showed that compared with control group, the weight gain(WG),specific growth rate(SGR),and condition factor(CF)in experimental groups were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The plasma total protein(TP)content in groups 0.3%to 1.5%was significantly increased(P<0.05).The plasma triglyceride(TG),glucose(GLU),and ammonia(PA)concentations in group 0.6%were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The activities of lipase(LPS)in the hepatopancreas, and α-amylase(AMS)in the intestine were enhanced in experimental groups, while the activities of sodium-potassium adenosine triphosphatase(Na+/K+-ATPase)and γ-glutamyl transferase(γ-GT)in the intestine were reduced. The malondialdehyde(MDA)content in the hepatopancreas and the hydrogen peroxide(H2O2)content in the intestine were decreased in experimental groups, while the activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)in the hepatopancreas and SOD in the intestine were increased. The study shows that dietary supplementation with AQE can reduce body fat content, fat deposition, and WG in Carassius auratus, exhibiting lipid-lowering and antioxidant functions. The appropriate addition amount is 0.853%.
