Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of Poria cocos extract on the growth performance, intestinal health, and immune function in white-feathered broilers.A total of 1 800 healthy one-day-old Arbor Acres(AA)broilers with uniform body size were randomly divided into three groups, with six replicates per group and 100 broilers per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while experimental groups 1 and 2 received the basal diet supplemented with 50 g/t and 100 g/t of Poria cocos extract, respectively. The test period lasted for 35 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the average daily gain(ADG)in each experimental group was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the feed-to-gain ratio(F/G)was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The activities of serum catalase(CAT)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),and the concentrations of interleukin-4(IL-4)and immunoglobulin M(IgM)in each experimental group were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the activity of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)and the content of immunoglobulin G(IgG)were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The villus height(VH)and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth(V/C)in the duodenum, jejunum, and ileum in each experimental grou were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the crypt depth(CD)was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The study indicates that dietary supplementation with 50 g/t of Poria cocos extract can effectively improve the growth performance of white-feathered broilers, enhance antioxidant capacity and immune function, promote intestinal morphological development, and improve intestinal health.
