Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with brewer's yeast cell wall polysaccharides on the serum antioxidant indexes, immune indexes, and reproductive hormone in lactating Hu sheep.A total of 100 healthy Hu sheep ewes on the fifth day after parturition and one parity, were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with 25 replicates per group and one ewe per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while the experimental groups received the basal diet supplemented with 0.2%(experimental group 1),0.4%(experimental group 2),and 0.6%(experimental group 3)brewer's yeast cell wall polysaccharides, respectively. The pre-test period was 10 days, and the formal test period was 70 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, serum superoxide dismutase(SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activities in experimental group 3 were significantly increased(P<0.05),while malondialdehyde(MDA)content was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Serum immunoglobulin A(IgA)and immunoglobulin M(IgM)concentrations in experimental groups 1 and 2 were significantly increased(P<0.05).Serum concentrations of interferon-γ(IFN-γ),interleukin-6(IL-6),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in all experimental groups were significantly increased(P<0.05).Serum estradiol(E2)content in experimental groups 1 and 2 was significantly increased(P<0.05).The study indicates that dietary supplementation with an appropriate amount of brewer's yeast cell wall polysaccharides can effectively enhance antioxidant capacity and immune function, promote the secretion of reproductive hormones in lactating Hu sheep, with a comprehensive recommended supplementation level of 0.2%to 0.4%.
