Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary combinations of peanut vine and silage corn in different proportions on the apparent digestibility of nutrients, energy metabolism, and nitrogen metabolism in 12 to 15-month-old growing buffaloes.Nine healthy growing buffaloes with an initial body weight of(230.89±10.63)kg were selected and randomly divided into three groups, namely 100%peanut vine group,60%peanut vine+40%silage corn group, and 45%peanut vine+55%silage corn group. Each group had three replicates, and one buffalo per replicate. The pre-test period was nine days, and the formal test period was three days.During the formal trest period, the digestion and metabolism test will be conducted using the total fecal collection method. The results showed that the apparent digestibility of dry matter(DM)in the 60%peanut vine+40%silage corn group was significantly higher than that in the 100%peanut vine group(P<0.05).The dry matter intake(DMI)and the apparent digestibility of organic matter(OM)and neutral detergent fiber(NDF)in the 60%peanut vine+40%silage corn group and the 45%peanut vine+55%silage corn group were significantly higher than those in the 100%peanut vine group(P<0.05).The gross energy digestibility, gross energy metabolic rate, and digestible energy metabolic rate in the 60%peanut vine+40%silage corn group and the 45%peanut vine+55%silage corn group were significantly higher than those in the 100%peanut vine group(P<0.05),while the fecal energy-to-gross energy ratio was significantly lower than that in the 100%peanut vine group(P<0.05).No significant differences were observed among the groups for fecal nitrogen-to-intake nitrogen ratio, urinary nitrogen-to-intake nitrogen ratio, deposited nitrogen-to-intake nitrogen ratio, and apparent nitrogen digestibility(P>0.05).The study indicates that considering the apparent digestibility of nutrients, energy metabolism, and nitrogen metabolism of growing buffaloes, the feeding effect of the combination of 60%peanut vine+40%silage corn is the best.
