Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with yam polysaccharide and its selenized compounds on the growth performance, immunity, antioxidant indicators, and cellular immune factors expression in weaned New Zealand meat rabbits.A total of one hundred and twelve 35-day-old weaned New Zealand meat rabbits were randomly divided into seven groups, with four replicates per group, and four rabbits per replicate. The control group(Group A)was fed a basal diet, while Groups B,C,and D were supplemented with 150,300,and 450 mg/kg of yam polysaccharide in the basal diet, respectively.Groups E,F,and G were supplemented with 150,300,and 450 mg/kg of selenized yam polysaccharide, respectively. The pre-trial period lasted seven days, and the formal trial period lasted 28 days. The results showed that compared with Group A,the average daily gain(ADG)of Groups B to G was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the feed-to-gain ratio(F/G)was significantly decreased(P<0.05),with the F/G of Group G was significantly lower than that of all other groups(P<0.05).The serum levels of immunoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin G(IgG),immunoglobulin M(IgM),complement C3,and complement C4 were significantly increased in all supplementation groups(P<0.05),with the serum IgA and IgG levels in Group G were significantly higher than those in all other groups(P<0.05).The glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity in the liver was significantly increased in all supplementation groups(P<0.05),while the malondialdehyde(MDA)content was significantly decreased in Groups E to G(P<0.05).The relative expression of interleukin-10(IL-10)in the liver was significantly up-regulated in Group G,while the relative expressions of interleukin-1β(IL-1β),interleukin-6(IL-6),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)were significantly down-regulated(P<0.05).The study indicates that dietary supplementation with yam polysaccharide and selenized yam polysaccharide can improve growth performance, enhance immune and antioxidant functions in weaned meat rabbits, with the selenized form exhibiting superior effects compared to ordinary yam polysaccharide.
