Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of adding different doses of Poria cocos polysaccharides to the diet on the growth performance, blood routine, serum biochemical indexes, immune indexes, antioxidant indexes, and antibody titer in broilers.A total of 735 healthy one-day-old Arbor Acres(AA)broiler chicks with an initial body weight of(39.7±2.0)g were randomly divided into five groups, with seven replicates per group and 21 broilers per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while the experimental groups 1,2,3,and 4 were fed the basal diet supplemented with 25,50,100,and 200 g/t Poria cocos polysaccharide, respectively. The test period was 35 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the average daily gain(ADG)and average daily feed intake(ADFI)were significantly increased from 1 to 35 days of age in all experimental groups(P<0.05).The contentrations of serum high-density lipoprotein(HDL),immunoglobulin M(IgM),interleukin-4(IL-4),and the activity of catalase(CAT)were significantly increased in all experimental groups(P<0.05),while the activity of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)was significantly decreased(P<0.05).Compared with the control group, the feed to gain ratio(F/G)and serum immunoglobulin G(IgG)content were significantly decreased in experimental groups 1,2,and 3(P<0.05).The number of white blood cells and lymphocytes were significantly increased in experimental groups 1 and 4(P<0.05).The serum glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity was significantly increased in experimental groups 2 and 4(P<0.05).The serum triglyceride(TG)content was decreased in experimental groups 2 and 3,and the antibody titer against Newcastle disease and avian influenza were significantly increased(P<0.05).Additionally,the incidence rate and mortality rate were reduced in all experimental groups. The study indicates that adding Poria cocos polysaccharide to the broiler diet can enhance the antioxidant capacity and immune function, reduce the F/G,incidence rate and mortality rate. The appropriate amount is 50 to 100 g/t.
