Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of Clostridium butyricum and Astragalus extract on the production performance, egg quality, serum biochemical indexes, and immune function in laying hens.A total of 800 Hyline brown laying hens aged 38 weeks were randomly divided into four groups, with five replicates per group and 40 hens per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ were supplemented with 500 g/t Astragalus extract,200 g/t Clostridium butyricum, and 500 g/t Astragalus extract+200 g/t Clostridium butyricum, respectively. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 49 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the laying rate and average egg weight of all experimental groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the feed-to-egg ratio and mortality rate were significantly decreased(P<0.05).In the experimental group Ⅲ,the yolk percentage, eggshell strength, and Haugh unit were significantly increased(P<0.05).The serum total protein, globulin, immunoglobulin G,and immunoglobulin M concentrations were significantly increased in all experimental groups(P<0.05),while the alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase activities were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The study indicates that Clostridium butyricum and Astragalus extract can effectively improve production performance, egg quality, serum biochemical indexes, and immune function of laying hens, with combined supplementation showing superior effects.
