Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of black soldier fly larvae meal on the growth performance, slaughter performance, and meat quality of broilers.A total of 300 Tiejiaoma broilers aged 28-day with similar body weight and good health status were selected and randomly divided into five groups, with three replicates per group and 20 broilers per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,and Ⅳ were supplemented with 5%,10%,15%,and 20%black soldier fly larvae meal, respectively,on an isoenergetic and isonitrogenous basis. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 60 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the body weight and average daily weight gain of broilers in experimental groups Ⅰ andⅡ were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the feed to gain ratio was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The thigh muscle yield, abdominal fat percentage,pH value, and muscle redness in group Ⅱ were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the shear force was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The total essential amino acid content and lauric acid content in muscle were significantly increased in all supplementation groups(P<0.05).The study indicates that supplementating the diet of Tiejiaoma broilers with 10%black soldier fly larvae meal effectively improves their growth performance, slaughter performance, and meat quality, while also enhancing the nutritional value of the muscle.
