Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of Chinese herbal and probiotic compound preparation on the intestinal health and immunity of weaned piglets.A total of twenty-four 14-day-old weaned piglets were randomly divided into four groups, with six replicates per group, and one piglet per replicate. The control group(group C)was fed with the basal diet.Groups N,Y,and NY were supplemented with 0.5%of a Chinese herbal compound preparation,0.5%of a probiotic combination, and 0.5%of a Chinese herbal and probiotic compound in the basal diet, respectively. The test period was 21 days. The results showed that compared with group C,the diarrhea rate of piglets in group NY was significantly reduced(P<0.05),and the length of intestinal villi, crypt depth, and villous to crypt ratio were significantly increased(P<0.05).The levels of immunoglobulin A(IgA),immunoglobulin M(IgM),and immunoglobulin G(IgG)in group NY were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the levels of interleukin-6(IL-6),interleukin-2(IL-2),interleukin-17(IL-17),and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The mRNA and protein expression levels of ZO-1,Occludin,and Claudin-1 in the group NY were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the mRNA and protein expression levels of tyrosine kinase 2(JAK2)and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3(STAT3)were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The study indicates that the Chinese herbal and probiotic compound preparation can effectively reduce the diarrhea rate of weaned piglets and promote intestinal health by improving intestinal barrier function, regulating immune response, and optimizing microbial balance.
