Abstract:This study aimed to evaluate the effects of substituting chlortetracycline with cinnamaldehyde and Clostridium butyricum on the growth performance, serum indicators, and rumen fermentation in Hu sheep.A total of 125 healthy female Hu sheep aged(45±4)days with similar body weights were selected and randomly divided into five groups, with five replicates per group and five sheep per replicate. The control group(CN group)was fed a basal diet, while experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,and Ⅳ were supplemented with 0.10%aureomycin,0.03%cinnamaldehyde,0.10%Clostridium butyricum, and a mixture of 0.03%cinnamaldehyde+0.10%Clostridium butyricum, respectively. The pre-test period lasts for 10 days, and the formal test period lasts for 60 days. The results showed that there were no significant differences among the groups in terms of final weight, average daily gain, average feed intake, and feed-to-weight ratio(P>0.05).Compared with the CN group, the concentrations of serum total protein(TP)and albumin(ALB)in each experimental group were significantly increased(P<0.05).The concent of serum immunoglobulin A(IgA)in the experimental group Ⅳwas significantly increased(P<0.05).The concent of interleukin-10(IL-10)in the experimental groups Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ was significantly increased(P<0.05).The activities of superoxide dismutase(SOD),glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),catalase(CAT),and total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)in the experimental groups Ⅱ,Ⅲ and Ⅳ were significantly increased(P<0.05).The concent of serum malondialdehyde(MDA)in the experimental groups Ⅱ and Ⅳ was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The research shows that cinnamaldehyde and Clostridium butyricum can both enhance the antioxidant capacity and immune function of the body, and the mixed preparation of 0.03%cinnamaldehyde+0.10%Clostridium butyricum has a better effect.
