Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of different doses of combined probiotics on the growth performance, serum biochemical indexes, and immune function in Xinjiang brown cattle calves.A total of 40 healthy 35-day-old Xinjiang brown cattle calves with similar body weight were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with 10 replicates per group and one calf per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while the low-dose,medium-dose,and high-dose groups were supplemented with 20,40,and 60 g/(head·d)of combined probiotics, respectively, based on the basal diet. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 45 days. The results showed that the average daily weight gain and average daily feed intake in the high-dose group were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the diarrhea rate in the control group was significantly higher than that in the medium-dose and high-dose groups(P<0.05).There were no significant differences in the concentrations of triglycerides(TG),total cholesterol(TC),and creatinine(CREA),and the activities of alkaline phosphatase(ALP),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),and lactate dehydrogenase(LDH)among the groups(P>0.05).The glucose(GLU)content in the high-dose group was significantly higher than that in other groups(P<0.05).The immunoglobulin G(IgG)content in the experimental groups was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05),while the interleukin-6(IL-6)and tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)concentrations were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The study indicates that combined probiotics can increase the growth performance, serum biochemical and immune function of Xinjiang brown cattle calves. The best effect is achieved when the amount of combined probiotics added is 60 g/(head·d).
