Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary supplementation with different levels of peanut vine(PV)on the growth performance, slaughter performance, meat quality, and organ development of meat rabbits.A total of 18 healthy aged 40 days New Zealand white rabbits were selected and randomly divided into three groups, with six replicates per group and one rabbit per replicate(half male and half female). The low(group LPM),medium(group MPM),and high PV level groups(group HPM)were supplemented with 27.00%,41.85%,and 45.00%PV in the basal diet, respectively, with the group LPM serving as the basal feeding standard. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 42 days. The results showed that the average daily weight gain(ADG)of group HPM was significantly lower than that of groups MPM and LPM(P<0.05).The average daily feed intake(ADFI)of group LPM was significantly lower than that of groups MPM and HPM(P<0.05).The feed-to-gain ratio(F/G)of group HPM was extremely higher than that of groups LPM and MPM(P<0.01).The live weight before slaughter of group LPM was significantly higher than that of group HPM(P<0.05),while there were no significant difference in other slaughter performance and meat quality parameters among the experimental groups(P>0.05).The liver weight and liver index of group HPM were extremely lower than those of groups MPM and LPM(P<0.0l),and the spleen weight of group MPM was significantly higher than that of group HPM(P<0.05).The study indicates that PV supplementation can effectively improve the growth performance and promote the development of organs such as the liver and spleen of meat rabbits. The recommended supplementation level is 41.85%.
