Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of dietary resveratrol supplementation on the laying performance, egg quality, and serum reproductive hormone levels of laying hens during the late laying period.A total of 2 400 healthy 60-week-old Hy-Line Brown laying hens were randomly divided into four groups, with six replicates per group and 100 hens per replicate. The groups were fed a basal diet supplemented with 0(group CK),250(group Ⅰ),500(group Ⅱ),and 1 000 mg/kg(group Ⅲ)of resveratrol, respectively. The pre-test period was one week, and the formal test period was eight weeks. The results showed that compared with the group CK,the egg production rate and average daily egg weight of groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the feed to egg ratio was significantly reduced(P<0.05).The yolk color of group Ⅲ was significantly darkened(P<0.05),while the eggshell thickness of groups Ⅱ andⅢ was significantly increased(P<0.05).The Haugh unit of each addition group was significantly increased(P<0.05).The levels of estradiol(E2)and follicle stimulating hormone(FSH)were significantly increased in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ(P<0.05),and the level of melatonin(MT)was significantly increased in each addition group(P<0.05).The total antioxidant capacity(T-AOC)of the liver was significantly increased in groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ(P<0.05),the activity of superoxide dismutase(SOD)was significantly increased in group Ⅱ(P<0.05),and the activity of glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)was significantly increased in each addition group(P<0.05).The activities of SOD and GSH-Px in the ovaries of each group were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the activity of glutathione-S-transferase(GST)was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the content of MDA was significantly decreased(P<0.05)in groupsⅡ and Ⅲ.The study indicates that dietary resveratrol supplementation of laying hens during the late laying period can improve laying performance, egg quality, and reproductive hormone levels, while enhancing the antioxidant function of the liver and ovary, and the effect is better when the dosage is 500 mg/kg.
