Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of compound Chinese herbal medicine feed additives on the serum, liver physiology, and immune indicators of koi carp.A total of 480 red-white koi carp with an initial weight of(27.70±5.36)g were randomly divided into four groups, with three replicates per group and 40 koi carp per replicate. In the feeding experiment, the control group was fed the basal diet, while the experimental groups were respectively fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.5%,1.0%and 1.5%of the compound Chinese herbal medicine, respectively. The pre-test period was seven days, and the formal test period was 14 days.Following the feeding experiment,a 72-hour stress experiment was conducted using 100 mg/L Cr6+potassium dichromate solution. The results of the feeding experiment showed that the activities of superoxide dismutase and peroxidase in the liver and the total antioxidant capacity of the three experimental groups were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0.05),and the malondialdehyde content in the 1.5%group was significantly lower than that of the control group(P<0.05).The activities of lipase and trypsin in the intestines of the three experimental groups were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The activities of lysozyme, catalase, and myeloperoxidase in the liver were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The results of the stress experiment showed that the total protein content in the serum of the three experimental groups was significantly higher than that of the control group(P<0.05),the activities of superoxide dismutase, acid phosphatase, myeloperoxidase, and lysozyme in the liver,as well as the total antioxidant capacity and NO content, were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The activities of α-amylase,lipase,and trypsin in the intestine were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The serum alanine aminotransferase activity and liver malondialdehyde content in the three experimental groups were significantly lower than those in the control group(P<0.05).The study indicates that adding compound Chinese herbal medicines to the basic diet can improve the liver function indicators of koi carp, enhance antioxidant capacity, promote intestinal digestion, improve immunity, reduce liver damage caused by adverse environments, and improve koi carp resistance to high Cr6+environments.
