Abstract:The experiment aimed to explore the effects of Blakeslea trispora containing β-carotene on the laying performance, yolk color, egg nutrition, and intestinal flora of laying hens.A total of 400 Hailan Grey laying hens aged 42 weeks were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with five replicates per group and 20 hens per replicate. The control group(group CK)was fed with the basal diet, while the groups L,M,and H were respectively supplemented with 0.8,2.4,and 4.0 g/kg of dry fungi of Blakeslea trispora in basal diets. The pre-test period was five days and the formal test period was 56 days. The results showed that there was no significant difference in laying performance and yolk color among each group of laying hens(P>0.05).Compared with the group L,the content of β-carotene in egg yolks and livers in groups H and M was significantly increased(P<0.05),while there was no significant difference in the content ofβ-carotene in ovaries and serum among the experimental groups(P>0.05).Compared with group CK,the concentrations of total amino acids, total fatty acids and cholesterol in eggs of the groups H and M were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the concentrations of total fatty acids and cholesterol in eggs of the group L were significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with group CK,the Chao1,Ace and Shannon indices of the groups H and M were significantly increased(P<0.05).The phylum level of bacterial classification mainly includes Bacteroidetes,Firmicutes, and Euryarchaeota, while the genus level mainly includes Bacteroides,Prevotellaceae UCG-001,Rikenellaceae RC9 gut group and Phascolarctobacterium.A total of 36 bacterial indicator groups were detected in the four groups of samples, belonging to three classes, four orders, six families and 14 genera.Among them, the number of differentially expressed species in group H was the largest.Compared with group CK,the abundance of Phascolarctobacterium in the groups M and L was significantly decreased(P<0.05),while the abundance of Eubacterium hallii group and Peptococcus in the group H were significantly increased(P<0.05).The abundances of one, four and ten metabolic pathways increased respectively in groups L,M,and H.The study indicates that Blakeslea trispora can increase the deposition of β-carotene in laying hens and the nutritional quality of eggs,as well as alter the structure and function of the intestinal flora. The suitable addition amount is 2.4 g/kg.
