Abstract:The experiment aimed to investigate the effects of Ficus hirta stems and leaves powder on the growth performance, immune function, and antioxidant indexes of yellow-feathered broilers.A total of 240 yellow-feathered broilers aged 35 days were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with six replicates per group and ten broilers per replicate. The control group(CK group)was fed a basal diet, while the experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.5%(0.5%group),1.0%(1.0%group),and 2.0%(2.0%group)of Ficus hirta stems and leaves powder, respectively. The pre-test period was seven days and the formal test period was 30 days. The results showed that, compared with the CK group, the serum total protein(TP)content, catalase(CAT)and total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)activities in the 1.0%group were significantly increased(P<0.05),while the activities of aspartate transaminase(AST)and alanine transaminase(ALT),as well as the contents of uric acid(UA)and malondialdehyde(MDA)were significantly decreased(P<0.05).The concentrations of immunoglobulin G(IgG)and immunoglobulin M(IgM)in the 1.0%and 2.0%groups were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)activity in the 2.0%group was significantly increased(P<0.05).The study indicates that Ficus hirta stems and leaves powder have no significant effect on the growth performance of yellow-feathered broilers, but can improve the immune function and antioxidant capacity, with the optimal supplementary dosage being 1.0%.
