Abstract:The study aimed to investigate the effects of replacing fishmeal with black soldier fly larvae meal on the growth performance, physiological metabolism, and muscle quality of river crabs.A total of 240 river crabs weighing(122.93±0.54)g were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with three replicates per group and 20 crabs per replicate. The groups R0,R20,R40,and R60 were respectively replaced with 0,20%,40%,and 60%black soldier fly larvae powder instead of fish meal in the basal feed. The pre-test period was two weeks and the formal test period was eight weeks. The results showed that compared with the group R0,the weight gain rate and specific growth rate of river crabs in the group R20 were significantly increased(P<0.05).With the increase in substitution ratio, the crude protein and crude fat content in the hepatopancreas of river crabs showed a decreasing trend(P<0.05).The river crabs of group R20 had the highest alkaline phosphatase, acid phosphatase activity, and total antioxidant capacity in the hepatopancreas and hemolymph, while the malondialdehyde content was the lowest. The study indicates that replacing fish meal with black soldier fly larvae powder can improve the growth performance of river crabs, enhance immune function and antioxidant abilities, but a high substitution ratio can have adverse effects on their growth performance. It is recommended that the proportion of black soldier fly larvae powder replacing fish meal in river crab feed is 20%.
