Abstract:This study aimed to evaluate the nutritional value and dynamic rumen degradation characteristics of peanut vine, chrysanthemum meal, soy sauce cake, and jasmine residue as feed ingredients for beef cattle.Three healthy beef cattle with similar body weights, fitted with permanent rumen cannulas, were selected to systematically analyze the dynamic degradation patterns and nutritional value of these four unconventional feed ingredients in the rumen. The results showed that the concentrations of dry matter(DM),crude protein(CP),and crude fat(EE)in soy sauce cake were significantly higher than those in other feeds(P<0.05),and the concentrations of neutral detergent fiber(NDF),acid detergent fiber(ADF),crude fiber(CF),and acid-washed lignin(ADL)in chrysanthemum meal were all significantly higher than those in other feeds(P<0.05).The ash content of peanut vine was significantly higher than that of other feeds(P<0.05),and the soluble carbohydrate(WSC)content of jasmine residue was significantly higher than that of other feeds(P<0.05).The degradation rates of DM,CP,NDF and ADF in the rumen of beef cattle with four unconventional feeds gradually increased with the increase in degradation time. The effective degradation rates(ED)of the four unconventional feed DM,from high to low,was jasmine residue>peanut vine>soy sauce cake>chrysanthemum meal. The ED of CP,from high to low,was soy sauce cake>peanut vine>jasmine residue>chrysanthemum meal. The ED of NDF,from high to low,was jasmine residue>soy sauce cake>chrysanthemum meal>peanut vine. The ED of ADF from high to low,was jasmine residue>soy sauce cake>chrysanthemum meal>peanut haulm. The study shows that jasmine residue and soy sauce cake have greater application potential in beef cattle feed and can be used as high-quality unconventional raw materials in beef cattle production.
