Abstract:The study aimed to investigate the alleviating effect of tea polyphenols(TP)on aspirin(ASA)-induced intestinal injury in mice.Twenty-four 7-week-old male Kunming mice were selected and adaptively fed for 7 days, then randomly divided into three groups with eight replicates per group and one mouse per replicate. The control group(CON group)was gavaged with saline for 12 consecutive days, the model group(ASA group)and the tea polyphenol group(TP group)were gavaged with 200 mg/kg ASA for the first six days of the experiment.During the last six days, the TP group was gavaged with 20 mg/kg TP,while the ASA group was gavaged with an equal volume of saline. The results showed that compared with the CON group, the villus height(VH)and villus height/crypt depth(VH/CD)ratio in the jejunum of the ASA group were extremely decreased(P<0.01),the malondialdehyde(MDA)content in the jejunum and ileum was extremely increased(P<0.01),the interleukin-6(IL-6)content in the ileum showed an increasing trend, and the serum diamine oxidase(DAO)activity was significantly increased(P<0.05).Compared with the ASA group, the VH and VH/CD ratio in the jejunum of the TP group were extremely increased(P<0.01),the total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)activity in the jejunum and ileum was extremely increased(P<0.01),and the MDA content was extremely decreased(P<0.01).The IL-6 content in the ileum showed a decreasing trend, the serum DAO activity was significantly decreased(P<0.05),and the secretory immunoglobulin A(sIgA)content in the ileum was extremely increased(P<0.01).The study indicates that TP can improve the intestinal morphology damaged by ASA,enhance the antioxidant capacity of the jejunum and ileum in intestinal-injured mice, improve the anti-inflammatory and immune abilities, and alleviate intestinal injury in mice.
