Abstract:This experiment aimed to investigate the effects of adding different levels of sunflower disc powder to the diet on the slaughtering performance and meat quality of growing chickens.A total of 640 ND5 chickens at 60 days of age were selected and randomly divided into four groups, with four replicates per group and 40 chickens per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while the experimental groups were fed the diet containing 1%(1%group),2%(2%group),and 3%(3%group)sunflower disc powder, respectively. The preliminary trial period was 15 days, and the formal trial period was 30 days. The results showed that compared with the control group, the pH45 min value, protein and fat concentrations in muscle of 1%group were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the protein content in muscle of 2%group was significantly increased(P<0.05).The concentrations of essential amino acids, umami amino acids(glutamic acid, alanine and glycine),taurine, and 5-hydroxytryptamine in muscle of 1%group were significantly increased(P<0.05),and the concentrations of leucine, valine, threonine, and isoleucine in muscle of 2%group were significantly increased(P<0.05).The concentrations of glutamic acid, lysine, threonine, isoleucine, and 5-hydroxytryptamine in muscle of 3%group were significantly increased(P<0.05).The study indicates that adding sunflower disc powder in diet can improve the meat quality of growing chickens by increasing the concentrations of protein, fat, essential amino acids and umami amino acids in muscle, and the effect of adding 1%sunflower powder is better.
