Effects of Polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharides on growth performance,serum biochemical indexes,meat quality,and immune function in Huainan yellow chickens from 45 to 81 days of age

Abstract：The study aimed to investigate the effects of different dietary supplementation levels of Polygonatum sibiricum polysaccharides(PSP)on the growth performance,serum biochemical indexes,meat quality,and immune function in Huainan yellow chickens aged 45～81 days.A total of 144 healthy 45-day-old Huainan yellow chickens with similar body weights were randomly divided into four groups,with six replicates per group and six chickens per replicate.The control group was fed a basal diet,while the experimental groups were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.1％,0.3％,and 0.5％PSP,respectively.The trial lasted for 36 days.The results showed that compared with the control group,the feed-to-weight ratio(F/G)of Huainan yellow chickens in the 0.3％PSP group was significantly reduced(P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the concentrations of total protein(TP)and globulin(GLO)in the serum of Huainan yellow chickens in the 0.5％PSP group were significantly increased(P＜0.05),and the concentrations of lactate dehydrogenase(LDH),direct bilirubin(DBIL),and total bilirubin(TBIL)in the serum of Huainan yellow chickens in the 0.3％and 0.5％PSP groups were significantly decreased(P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the pH45min value of breast muscle in the 0.1％and 0.3％PSP groups was significantly increased(P＜0.05),the L*45min value of breast muscle in the 0.1％PSP group was significantly decreased(P＜0.05),and the pH45min value of leg muscle in the 0.3％and 0.5％PSP groups was significantly increased(P＜0.05).Compared with the control group,the content of interleukin-1β(IL-1β)in the serum of Huainan yellow chickens in the 0.3％and 0.5％PSP groups was significantly reduced(P＜0.05),the content of tumor necrosis factor-α(TNF-α)in the serum of Huainan yellow chickens in the PSP groups was significantly reduced(P＜0.05).The study indicates that the addition of PSP to the diet has certain improved effects on the growth performance,meat quality,serum biochemical indexes and immune function of Huainan yellow chickens aged 45 to 81 days,and an addition level of 0.3％is more suitable.
