Abstract:The study aimed to investigate the effects of selenium-enriched fermentation sludge on the production performance, nutrient apparent metabolic rate, and intestinal health of Romaine Pink laying hens.A total of two hundred 305-day-old Romain Pink laying hens were randomly divided into five groups with five replicates per group and eight Romain Pink laying hens per replicate. The control group was fed a basal diet, while experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ,andⅣ were fed diets containing 1%,2%,3%,and 4%selenium-enriched fermentation sludge, respectively. The pre-trial period was one week, and the formal trial period was six weeks. The results showed that compared to the control group, the average egg weight of the experimental groups was significantly increased(P<0.05),and the feed-to-egg ratio was significantly decreased(P<0.05).The apparent metabolic rate of crude protein and calcium in the experimental groups were significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The duodenal villus height in experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅲ and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in experimental groups Ⅱ and Ⅲ were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The ileal villus height in all experimental groups and the ratio of villus height to crypt depth in experimental groups Ⅱ,Ⅲ,and Ⅳ were significantly higher than those in the control group(P<0.05).The cecal villus height in all experimental groups was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The relative abundance of Lactobacillus in the cecal microbiota of experimental group Ⅱ was significantly higher than that in the control group(P<0.05).The relative abundance of Megamonas and Megasphaera were significantly higher in all experimental groups than in the control group(P<0.05),while the relative abundance of Desulfovibrio was significantly lower in experimental groups Ⅰ,Ⅱ,and Ⅳ than in the control group(P<0.05).The study indicates that selenium-enriched fermentation sludge can improve the production performance and nutrient apparent metabolic rate of Romaine Pink laying hens, promote intestinal morphological development and improve intestinal health. The experimental group Ⅱ achieved the best results.
